Mindfulness

What is Mindfulness?
We are often rushing from one activites to the next. Being present and full enjoying this present moment. Because the future is not promised.

In my my teaching, I try to encourage my fellow yogis and yoginis to practice mindfulness everyday and let go of the past. It is hard to hard to practice, but constand practice is the only way to master mindfulness.

Being mindfulness when you are on your yoga mat to enjoy the present moment. I encourage everyone to slow down and enjoy this ride to work. Being in the present moment can be applied to everything not just when you are practing yoga. Even when you are eating, munching, spending time with family and friends to say the least..

A simple analogy I give when I am teaching yoga is is when they are in Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II) position.. Whatever leg is  front corresponds to the arm that is in front. Repeat on the other side. Your left leg is front at 90 degree; your left arm is pointing straight ahead and your right arm is pointing back. You focus is towards to the left middle finger. Left arms is like looking into the future, right arm is the past  and the body is in the present moment.

In this position, you do not want to have a weak arms whether in the past or future. You maintain the posture for 4-5 breaths. The benefits are vast, you build confidence and improve balanace, with strong legs and arms. The root chakra is activated as well as the naval chakra.

Even practicing mindful breathing, to make sure you full inhale and exhale. Enjoy your yoga practice to the full extent. When you eat each meal or munch; practice mindfulness. Chew your food, your digestive system will thank you for it. When you drink your wine or your favorite, practice mindfulness.

Happy presnt moment.
